Kennewick Chapter, NSDAR, History

The name, "Kennewick" is believed to mean "grassy place" and is historically significant in that it was traveled and documented by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805.  Kennewick was officially incorporated as a town in 1905.  A few years later,  a group of ladies gathered to form what would become the Kennewick Chapter, NSDAR, chartered on May 15, 1912.

Today, Kennewick is the largest of the Tri-Cities with a population of roughly 86,000 people.

To learn more about the history of Kennewick, Washington, we suggest visiting the East Benton County Historical Society & Museum in Keewaydin Park.
